Musician | Audio engineer
News producer | Video editor
Jay Rosen is a musician, audio and video engineer, and multimedia content creator hailing from Philadelphia, PA. He is a pianist, guitarist, pedal steel guitarist, and multi-instrumentalist music director for theater and all musical styles.
With live performance disrupted by COVID, Jay returned to college and emerged a news professional, harnessing the skills and mindset of live performance to succeed in the modern media marketplace. Based on his background in audio, he landed at KYW Newsradio in Philadelphia, growing quickly from a production assistant to a Swiss Army knife of the newsroom, including writing and editing on the station's peak hours, producing a weekly podcast, and managing the station's digital and social media presence.
As a lifelong musician, Jay has over 25 years' experience as a pianist and 15 as a guitarist. He has always enjoyed learning new instruments and sharing them, often in non-traditional contexts. He has spent the last decade as a freelance musician, highlighted by two national tours and a series of regional theater productions. He was a founding member of Rachel Andie and the V Element and has been a frequent collaborative partner with Emily Drinker, Seth Aaron Jones, and many more Philadelphia songwriters.
Jay holds a Bachelor's Degree from Temple University in Media Studies and Production.
